Culture Pop-Up: Become a Kantele Master in an Hour June 4th, 5–6 pm!
Welcome to a joyful, low-threshold musical experience exploring Finnish folk music! In this cheerful Kantelemestari workshop, you’ll get to know Finland’s national instrument, the 5-string kantele, and learn the very basics of playing it in just one hour.
During the workshop, we’ll explore simple accompaniment patterns, plucking techniques, and even try tuning the instrument ourselves — but above all, we’ll enjoy the joy of making music together. No previous musical experience is needed, and complete beginners are warmly welcome.
There’s no need to bring your own instrument, as a pre-tuned kantele will be reserved for each participant.
The shared musical experience culminates in the fun presentation of Kantelemestari diplomas!
Become a Kantele Master in an Hour workshop on June 4th at 5–6 p.m. at the Heikki Event Space of the Lappeenranta Main Library. The workshop will be led by Sari Kaasinen. The workshop accommodates up to 20 participants.
