Galleria Pihatto is a gallery space owned by the city of Lappeenranta, located in the city centre, in a beautiful natural setting in the historic Lappee old vicarage. Pihatto is located at Valtakatu 80, 53130 Lappeenranta.

Gallery Pihatto is still in use as a gallery, and small events can aslo be organised in the space.

Organize an exhibition

It is possible to apply to Galleria Pihatto to have an exhibition. We are looking for exhibitions from September 2024 until the end of February 2025 next year.

The application deadline is 21 July 2024, after which we will announce our selection. The selection will be based on the suitability of the content, interest, implementation requirements, references, and the professionalism of the organizer. Preference will be given to professional artists.

Prerequisites for organizing an exhibition

Gallery Pihatto can be applied for an exhibition space for two (2) weeks. Please note that the time period must include the time needed for the construction and dismantling of the exhibition. The space is free of charge to the exhibitor, on the condition that the exhibitor is responsible for the supervision of the space during the opening hours of Galleria Pihato. 

The opening hours of the gallery are as follows:

Tue - Fri 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Sat - Sun 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

 except on exhibition construction and dismantling days.  

The exhibitor is responsible for freight, insurance and hanging, as well as copyright policies and fees.

It is also possible to organize small events in connection with exhibitions. In addition, the city of Lappeenranta may make bookings for events such as concerts, meetings and small private events that are appropriate and likely to attract visitors during the exhibition period.

Exhibitors may sell their works in the space. The exhibitor is responsible for the sale of the works and for the responsibilities and obligations associated with the sale and for compliance with the law.

There shall be no admission charge for exhibitions. Admission to Galleria Pihatto is free to the public.

Practices related to communication and marketing of exhibitions

The exhibitions organized in Galleria Pihato in 2024 will be part of the Lappeenranta Dream Year of Culture 2024. The exhibitors are committed to use The Dream Year of Culture logo in all marketing materials and to adding information about the exhibitions to the South Karelia events calendar. Detailed instructions on communication and marketing will be sent to the selected exhibitors.

Galleria Pihatto – space and equipment

The address of Galleria Pihato is Valtakatu 80, 53130 Lappeenranta.

The large exhibition space is about 13 meters wide and 9 meters deep. The room height is about 3.2 meters. The walls of the room are surrounded by hanging rails. It is also possible to hang works on hooks in the middle of the ceiling.

The space has windowsills which can be used to display the works. The windowsills measure approximately 100 cm x 100 cm x 140 cm. The windows can be covered with blinds. 

The space is equipped with an LED adjustable lighting system.
