Swimming and beach life

 

Beach life 

All public beaches are free of charge. The following are suitable for beginners and children:

  • Ahvenlampi beach, Joutseno, Hongistontie 5
  • Korkkitehtaa beach, Marssitie 5
  • Mattila beach , Marssitie 5
  • Murheistenranta beach, Sirkkelimiehenkatu 10
  • Myllysaari beach (by the playing field) Myllysaarenpolku 12
  • Huhtiniemi beach (Kuusimäen ranta) Huhtiniemenkatu 8 b
  • Sammonlahti  beach, Rantaniitynkatu 35 a

Please always swim in shallow water and along the shore if you are a beginner.
It´s also always recommended to have somebody with you while you are in the water.
The water can suddenly get very deep also on beaches that seem shallow.
Children are always to be supervised when they are on the beach or in the water.  
A lifeguard is present but parental supervision is always required.

If you see a sign ”sinilevää vedessä”, that means cyanobacteria are present and you should not enter the water.
If there is thunder and lightning, it is also unsafe to be in the water.

Ticket sales end 45 minutes and swimming time 30 minutes before the swimming hall closes. Swimming time 2 hours.

Beach volleyball

Myllysaari beach, Myllysaarenpolku 37. 
Sammonlahti beach, Rantaniitynkatu 35 a.
The beach volleyball fields can be used all summer for free and without registration.
Especially in the evening it´s usually easy to find play partners.  You have to bring a ball of your own.

Tennis

The Sports Department is in charge of the maintenance of the tennis courts, but the reservations are run by the tennis club  Lappeenrannan Tennisseura ry

Fishing

In Finland we have a fishing law.  According to the law a National Fisheries Management Fee must be paid by anyone (aged 18-64*) fishing except if you are ice fishing, or angling. Exception: at the age under 18 years or over 65 years don´t need to pay.
Fishing is allowed only in public areas. Here you can find information about restricted fishing areas:

The fishery fee is 47 € /year or 16 €/week or 6 €/day.

Churchboat rowing 

Myllysaari boat house. Myllysaarenpolku 39.
Wednesday at 6 pm
Try a perfect summeractivity. You learn to row, get good exercise and best of all-get out on the spectacular Saimaa lake in great company!
You get the equpment including the life vest on  the place. The boat is big and secure, so you don´t have to worry about getting into the water. 
Please bring a water bottle, sneakers and gloves. Arrive on time, at 5.45 pm at the very latest. 
Price 5€/session to be paid cash on the place.

Kayaking 

A great summer sport suitable for those who have good swimming skills.

Tuesday starting at 5.30 pm Arrival between 4.30-5 pm! ( Six events: 27.5., 10.6., 1.7., 29.7., 12.8. ja 26.8.)
Arranged by Saimaan Latu club. Please check further information on the website. 
Registration and fee:students 7€/person, others 15€/person.
