Play club
Open early childhood education services provide guided activities for children in play clubs, complementing other forms of early childhood education. The free-of-charge play club is intended for all children aged 3–5 who do not attend municipal early childhood education or early childhood education supported by the municipality.
The purpose of the play club is to
• provide children with varied guided activities
• get children accustomed to working in a group
• inspire a positive attitude towards learning new things
• support children in doing things independently and their self-esteem development
• support families in bringing up children.
The play club activities are guided by the early childhood education plan of the City of Lappeenranta. An early childhood education teacher and early childhood education childcarer work at each location. Children attend the club without their parents for three hours a day, four days a week. Parents pack a small snack for the child. The children are insured for the duration of the club activities. You can apply for a place by filling in the play club application. Attending play club activities is free of charge.

Service background
Open early childhood education and care activities are intended especially for children who are in home care. Many types of activities support the well-being of children and families at open day-care centres and playgrounds and in clubs.
Clubs offer instructor-led and goal-oriented activities. Play, outdoor activities and spending time together in a safe environment are emphasised. For example, the children may be offered clubs focusing on exercise, cultural activities or nature study. In family clubs, the parents may also participate.
In addition to municipalities, actors such as parishes and NGOs organise clubs, camps and other activities for children and their parents. Some of these are intended for the whole family.
