As an alternative to municipal early childhood education, families can choose private early childhood education either in a private daycare centre or with a private family daycare provider. The activities are supervised and supported by the city, and the family can receive private care allowance and municipal supplement to private care allowance. The allowance is paid directly to the service provider at the family’s application. The payment of the allowance is subject to the approval of the municipality.
