The BeyondEE development work (Integrated Digital Solutions for District Heating Optimisation & Empowering End-Users) is a two-year-long project that began in May 2024 and lasts until April 2026.
The project’s goal is to optimize district heating consumption in residential and service buildings. The City of Lappeenranta implements the project in collaboration with its affiliated company, Lappeenrannan Energia.
One of the project's objectives is to increase users' convenience by preventing unnecessary heating of spaces. Additionally, the project enables the monitoring of buildings' thermal environments and indicates the need for heating equipment maintenance.
The piloting is being conducted in nine buildings from Lappeenrannan Asuntopalvelu and three from the Student Housing Foundation for the Region of Lappeenranta (LOAS). The project is part of the European Union’s NetZeroCities program, which aims to pilot solutions for achieving carbon neutrality in European cities.
