Implementation of electric vehicle charging points

In 2023–2024, electric vehicle charging points were built next to 27 city service buildings. There are a total of 66 charging points equipped with basic charging near these city service buildings.

In the summer of 2025, a high-power charging station was also opened on Pormestarinkatu. It is also the city's first street-side charging point. The high-power charging station enables fast charging of cars.

Using recyclable gravel to prevent slippery roads in winter

The city of Lappeenranta will be able to gravel its streets with recycled gravel for the first time next winter. In 2025, the city agreed on a pilot project in which gravel will be recycled so that it can be used again.
