Frugal Circles – Community-Driven Solutions for Resource-Wise Living
Frugal Circles promotes resource-wise living and the circular economy
Frugal Circles is an international project funded by the Central Baltic Programme that develops community-driven solutions for reusing, repairing and sharing textiles and household items. The project aims to reduce waste and the consumption of natural resources while making sustainable everyday choices easy, affordable and accessible for everyone.
The project is implemented in Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Sweden in cooperation with municipalities, universities and other expert organisations. The City of Lappeenranta is one of the project partners.
Project objectives
Frugal Circles aims to:
- reduce textile and household waste
- increase the reuse, repair and sharing of products
- strengthen community engagement and local cooperation
- promote a positive perception of frugal living as a sustainable lifestyle and consumption choice
- develop practical, easily replicable solutions that can be adopted in other regions.
Expected results
The project will:
- reduce the use of natural resources
- increase the reuse and repair of products
- strengthen cooperation within local communities
- create an operational model that can be replicated across Europe
- enhance cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange between participating countries.
