Lappeenranta Art Museum

Lappeenranta Art Museum is located opposite the Orthodox Church in the Lappeenranta Fortress, in the yellow neo-classical barracks dating from 1798.

The Art Museum collections mainly consist of Finnish fine arts from the 19th century to the present, including a large and important collection by the Viipuri Friends of Art Association (Viipurin Taiteenystävät ry). Accessions have been made with a particular focus on art from South-Eastern Finland.

The exhibitions offer a diverse view into various art phenomena. Though the main focus is on contemporary art, also the history of art is displayed regularly. The exhibitions emphasise art from South-Eastern Finland, but there are also exhibitions of foreign art every now and then. Besides the exhibitions, the Art Museum features guided tours, events and workshops.

The Lappeenranta Art Museum has a museum shop in the premises where you can get unique products made based on the artefacts in the museum collections. The shop is open within the museum’s opening hours.

Green Warehouse (Vihreä makasiini) next to Lappeenranta Art Museum, at Kristiinankatu 6, can be rented for various events and exhibitions.
