Advice related to the planning and construction of streets and parks
The planning and construction of streets and public areas is regulated in the Land Use and Construction Act. The planning of street areas and green areas already starts with the zoning. The location of the street is defined in the site plan, and the traffic plan drawn up in connection with the site plan shows e.g. how the street space is divided between different modes of transport. Street and traffic sign plans are drawn up for the street area indicated in the site plan and based on the traffic plan.
A separate street plan is not drawn up for small, individual traffic changes (e.g. placement of traffic signs, construction of speed bumps). Official decisions are made from them, which follow the principles approved by the Urban Development Board.
