Lappeenranta’s Dream Year of Culture 2024 will culminate in theme week ”Loistava Lappeenranta” 16.11.–24.11.2024 – take part in the light art challenge!

Lappeenranta’s Dream Year of Culture is a year of doing things together and celebrating cultural diversity. It highlights the local artists and cultural actors and encourages citizens to get involved in culture. The theme year will strenghten culture as a livelihood and create a basis for growth in the event sector. Culture contributes to well-being, inclusion and community.

The Dream Year of Culture’s theme week ”Loistava Lappeenranta” will bring light to Lappeenranta 16.11. –24.11.2024. The Dream Year of Culture challenges companies, associations and individuals to bring light and colour into the darkness.

You can participate with a lighted building, a shop window, an outdoor installation or even the window of an apartment facing the street. The only limit is your creativity! Please note, however, that the light artwork must have the permission of the owner/landowner.

Please register your light artwork by 1.11.2024. Let’s make Lappeenranta’s November brighter together! The list of participating light artworks will be published closer to the theme week. You can participate from anywhere in Lappeenranta.

Take a picture of your light artwork and share it on social media with @lappeenrantafi #lprkulttuurinunelmavuosi24 #lprkulttuurinunelmavuosi2024 #valotaidehaaste. The best entries will be awarded with culture prizes!

During the week, you can also experience performances and other events organised by Lappeenranta’s Dream Year of Culture 2024.
