The City of Lappeenranta will host a public celebration on Saturday 22.8.2026  in honour of European champion Alisa Vainio. The event is open to everyone and will begin at 15.30 at the Lappeenranta Harbour Square.

During the celebration, the newly crowned European champion will share her thoughts and experiences. The Finnish rock band Kotiteollisuus will perform, and the city will also reveal how Alisa's hometown of Lappeenranta will recognise her outstanding achievement.

Before the celebration, the Lappeenranta Half running event, including a half marathon, will take place in the harbour area.

- The arrangements for the celebration aim to reflect Alisa's own wishes. There will also be an element of surprise in the way Lappeenranta chooses to honour her.

- Everyone is warmly welcome to celebrate Alisa with us. Let's enjoy a relaxed and memorable event without unnecessary fuss, says Mayor Tuomo Sallinen.

Due to the Lappeenranta Half event, some streets in the harbour area will be closed to traffic. The City of Lappeenranta encourages visitors to arrive on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. Those arriving by car are encouraged to use the parking garages in the city centre.
