The EU Mission Label is awarded for efforts towards climate neutrality

Lappeenranta received the EU Mission Label on March 21, 2024. The label acknowledges the successful development of the Climate City Contract, which is the city's action plan to achieve climate neutrality.

In 2022, the European Commission selected Lappeenranta as one of the 100 climate neutral and smart cities in the EU. These 100 cities are pioneers who serve as innovative examples to accelerate their climate neutrality.
