Focused on punk, hardcore and alternative music, LPRHC Fest will this year be organised as a one-day event on Saturday, 17 August in and around a festival tent to be built at  Lappeenranta Fortress. The event will be part of Lappeenranta’s 375th anniversary celebrations. Afterwards, the event, organised by Pro Punk & Hardcore ry since 2012, will go on indefinite hiatus.

“It is fantastic to have LPRHC Fest here once again, especially with such an impressive line-up. The festival has grown tremendously over the years. Although the event will go on hiatus, we hope that it will return one day – our event areas are developing all the time,” says Riikka Hjelt, Event Production Coordinator at the City of Lappeenranta.

As usual, the event programme will be a mix of punk, hardcore, Sprechgesang and small surprises, including a comeback performance by the local legend Kyre & Duunarit. The line-up will be complemented by the loud and aggressive Kiss Disease, the band Puhelinseksi, known for their bittersweet and heartbreaking bangers, Kivesveto Go Go, aka Kouvola-based punk rock’s own Gösta Sundqvist and Hannu Karpo, Wasted, who have been at the forefront of Finnish punk rock since the 1990s and Huora, the metallic punk band that will release a new album in the spring.

The heavier acts of the evening will be M.O.R.A., who combine modern hardcore with old school punk, as well as St. Hood and BOLT, the undisputed heavyweight champions of Finnish hoodie hardcore, who will take us back to the musical origins of LPRHC Fest.

The last performer to take to the stage will be Lappeenranta’s own Laineen Kasperi & Palava Kaupunki, whose unique sound has been widely praised across genres. Palava Kaupunki is known as one of Finland’s most electrifying live bands, and they are sure to deliver a memorable finale that will see LPRHC Fest off on its indefinite hiatus.
