Applying for further studies after basic education

Compulsory education ends when your child turns 18 or completes a matriculation or vocational or equivalent examination. All students within the scope of compulsory education are subject to the obligation to apply for upper secondary studies. It means that you, as a guardian, must ensure that your child applies for a place of study in a vocational institution or upper secondary school or other education specified in the Act on Compulsory Education during the 9th grade.
