Impact of the corona virus on the services in the city of Lappeenranta as of 14 May

Services and events


The Town Hall is open Monday - Friday from 8 am-4 pm.

Customer Service Center Winkki doors are open at 9 am–4 pm. One customer at a time is admitted inside the service centre. The service hour from 9 am to 10 am is reserved only for customers belonging to high-risk groups.

Winkki doors are open

Tourist information
The tourist information office located in the IsoKristiina shopping centre is open Mon–Fri at 10 am–5 pm. The service hour from 10 am to 11 am is reserved only for customers belonging to high-risk groups.

Early childhood education, comprehensive schools and upper secondary schools


The everyday activities of early childhood education will continue as normal as of 14 May, but taking into account the new guidelines of the Finnish Government. Children in pre-school education will return to pre-school on 14 May.

Contact teaching in comprehensive schools will continue as normal as of 14 May, but taking into account the new guidelines.
Upper secondary schools will continue with distance education until the end of the current school year.
School transport will be arranged as normal, but taking into account the instructions provided by the authorities.

Cultural services


Museum exhibitions will be open from 1 June Mon–Sun at 11 am–5 pm. The Wolkoff House Museum and shop will remain closed and no guided group tours will be organised in the museums.

Materials reserved in advance can be picked up from the main library as well as the Joutseno, Lauritsala, Sammonlahti, Voisalmi and Ylämaa libraries on a self-service basis. Libraries and their facilities are otherwise closed and the library bus will not operate.

Libraries will open their doors on 1 June in accordance with the instructions provided by the authorities.

 

Sports facilities


The swimming pools and other indoor sports facilities of the City of Lappeenranta, outdoor sports facilities that require maintenance and the Myllysaari sauna will remain closed.

Outdoor sports facilities may still be used, but only in accordance with the regulations and instructions issued by the Government.


Youth services and centres


Youth centres and the Ohjaamo service centre will be opened as of 1 June. Until then, the facilities will remain closed.

 

Public transport


Local public transport will continue in accordance with summer schedules until 31 May, with line 3K added.
Commuter transport will switch to winter schedules from 14 to 31 May.

As of 1 June, local public transport and commuter transport will operate in accordance with normal summer schedules. Schedules are available on the city’s website: https://lappeenranta.digitransit.fi/

 

Other public places


The city recommends to avoid being in public places unnecessarily and reminds of gathering restrictions: gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited until 31 May, gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited as of 1 June.

Spending time in parks and playgrounds is allowed, but only in accordance with the regulations and instructions issued by the Government.


Public functions and events


There will be pop-up performances in July, otherwise the public events and concerts in May-June-July have been cancelled or postponed.

The Lappeenranta Sand Castle will open on 1 July, taking guidelines into account.
