Christmas in Lappeenranta 2015
The Christmas season is almost here. Lappeenranta will be dressed for Christmas, seasonal events and markets will spring up all over the city and a festive Christmas Street will be set up in the centre.
The Christmas Street event in Kauppakatu will bring Finnish crafts, Christmas delicacies and seasonal activities to the city centre. Traditional Christmas markets will also be organised in the Market Square and at the Fortress.
Further information on the Christmas Street programme and other seasonal events is available on these pages.
Christmas begins in Lappeenranta!
Christmas Street opens just before Christmas
The traditional Christmas Street event takes place in the heart of Lappeenranta, in Kauppakatu in front of the Raatihuone Park. This year, the event will bring local and out-of-town merchants to the festive Christmas village. They will sell handicrafts and various delicacies, including traditional Finnish Christmas fare such as rice pudding and fine mulled wine.
In addition to the sales stands, the Christmas Street will feature a variety of performances: music, fabulous fire shows and Santa Claus himself, who has promised to visit with his small elves. There will also be a shuttle bus service to a nearby farm to see reindeer.
The Christmas Street will be open 5–20 December 2015
Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 6pm
Saturdays from 11am to 5pm and
Sundays from 12 noon to 5pm
Make sure you have enough time for Christmas Street to be able to enjoy all the activities.
See you in Christmas Street!
