Swimming halls and beaches
The Lappeenranta swimming hall is in the centre of town, the Lauritsala swimming hall on the east side of town. In addition, Lappeenranta offers places to swim and take a sauna all year round at the Myllysaari Public Sauna. Ice swimming is very popular in Finland. During the winter months, a refreshing dip in the icy lake is possible. Lappeenranta offers many public beaches among which the Myllysaari beach is the most popular.
Lappeenranta swimming hall
The Lappeenranta swimming hall has a 25 meter pool with 8 tracks, a children’s pool, a jumping pool, water slide and climbing wall. In addition to saunas and steam rooms, reservation saunas, a gym and a cafeteria are available for visitors.
Lauritsala swimming hall
The Lauritsala swimming hall on the east side of the town has a 25 meter pool with 6 tracks. In addition, the hall has a children’s pool with a small water slide. For the disabled, the hall has a gym and an easily accessible elevator.
Myllysaari beach sauna
The Myllysaari beach sauna is located next to the Myllysaari beach and swimming area. The Beach sauna has open hours for men on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4and 8 p.m., and for women on Wednesdays and Fridays between 4 and 8 p.m.
Ahvenlampi beach sauna and Hinkanranta beach sauna
Ahvenlampi and Hinkanranta beach saunas are located in Joutseno.
Myllysaari beach and recreational area
The Myllysaari recreational area has a beach, water slide, beach volleyball field, swimming area and a beach kiosk. During winter months, the area offers the opportunity for ice swimming. The beach area is right next to the centre of town, by the bay. In the summer, Myllysaari is a place to spend time with family and friends with a refreshing dip in lake Saimaa.
